The first thing that struck me about Halleck Winery was the beauty of the property. The tasting room is nestled among towering redwoods, and the vineyards are located just a stone’s throw away. The setting is peaceful and serene, and it’s the perfect place to enjoy a glass (or two!) of wine.
I was lucky enough to try four of Halleck’s Pinot Noirs during my visit, and they did not disappoint. The 2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir was light and delicate, with notes of strawberry and rose petal. The 2017 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir was fuller-bodied, with flavors of dark cherry and chocolate. Both wines were well-balanced and extremely enjoyable.
My personal favorite was the 2018 Single Vineyard “Hacienda” Pinot Noir. This wine was produced from grapes grown on the Halleck vineyard, which is located on a hillside overlooking the Russian River Valley. The resulting wine is complex and nuanced, with flavors of blackberry, spice, and mocha. It’s truly a work of art, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to try it! In addition to their excellent Pinot Noirs, Halleck Winery also produces Chardonnay, Rosรฉ, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Barbera, Petite Sirah, Grenache Blanc, Viognier Petite Sirah port-style wines. There’s something for everyone at Halleck! I had such a wonderful time at Halleck Winery, and I can’t wait to go back again soon. If you find yourself in Sebastopol, be sure to add this hidden gem to your list of places to visit. You won’t regret it!
